Car Audio Forum - Technical Help > avic-z110bt help

Hi, I just had an avic-z110bt installed, and am experiencing some issues. Whenever the voice navigation finishes speaking or after it beeps the music/radio volume is raised momentarily then drops to normal volume. Is this normal? Also, whenever the voice is speaking there is a quiet whine (maybe a fan?) that goes on and off. It also looks like it is drawing excess power as the car's lcd display dims along with that noise? Could that be a ground issue? Voltage is not an issue. never is below 13.5volts.

Thanks

what kind of car did you install it in? did you use an interface adapter to put the radio in? if so, which one?

2004 4runner. Used a PAC adapter for the JBL amplifier, and a PAC adapter for steering wheel controls.

Is the issue with the wiring harness?

no thats not normal. the volume raising momentarily sounds like an issues with the jbl interface. do you have the z110's rca outputs hooked up to the interface or are the speaker wire outputs going to the interface? your display dimming while to nav voice is speaking sounds like it could be a ground issue. there is a small hiss while the voice speaks, but that can usually be adjusted out with the nav voice volume setting on the z110. it might also go away if you use the rca outputs to the pac jbl interface.
