So I have been looking into obtaining this head unit and have done all my homework as far as bypassing it. The question I have is when installing this unit is it essential to remove and slide the mute wire into the other slot? What will happen if I just ground the green wire?

it wont bypass if you just ground the green. if the green wire is grounded the unit will show an error when it boots up.
