Using the yellow wire is best because it has the little metal tab snaps right in to the plug, so it's a good connection. you could just use a wire if you want. just make sure it actually makes contact to the pin.
I was thinking of doing the same as Dino, because I have a PAC steering wheel adapter, and I didn't know if using the mute lead with the parking brake would not allow me to use the steering wheel mute. So connecting the green and black and putting a metal tab snap into the pin hole next to the yellow would work, and save my steering controls?
you won't need the yello/black for the steering wheel adapter. the pac adapter plugs into the avic with a 3.5 jack on the back.
thanks Doug
I just about had it out when the pin snapped in half, where can I buy a new pin or will I have to buy a new harness, I found the harness for $58, ouch
I was able to connect a new wire pin into the adjacent port without taking the yellow wire or splicing the harness to remove the yellow(mute) wire. The pin that fits into the harness is next to impossible to find even at a local electronic specialty store in my area. However, If you have an old computer you can salvage the wires that goes into the fan. The small black connector that goes into the small fan have the right pin size that fits into the Pioneer Z110bt Harness. Remember this is only for grounding use only. I then tested this with the multi meter and bingo it works. Good luck to all!. No need to buy a new harness for those of you that F*&#$K up the harness.

I watched the Video regarding the Z110BT bypass. My questions, why not just put another wire into the proper slot/ port and gound it with the green and black instead of splicing the harness to get the yellow wire free. Does the yellow wire need to be pulled and place into the correct slot to get the unit to work? Many thanks! Dino
