Saves space and should hit just as hard as any 3/4" mdf box.

    curious as to whether or not building a box to spec according to the manufacturer is the "best bang" method...   i have two 12w3v3's and want to put one in a ported, and the other in a sealed enclosure.  I've always built sealed enclosures for...  morecurious as to whether or not building a box to spec according to the manufacturer is the "best bang" method...   i have two 12w3v3's and want to put one in a ported, and the other in a sealed enclosure.  I've always built sealed enclosures for their accuracy, but I've recently been intrigued by the amount of boom a ported box can produce.   JL's website has recommended specs for each box, but I know that by tweaking airspace and other properties you can achieve different results.  I am looking for something tight but LOUD and able to hit lows in a sealed enclosure, and something controlled but boomy with the ported enclosure.  I guess I want the best of both worlds, which i know can be hard to attain.   can anyone either suggest some software or maybe even draft up a couple designs?!  the only really limiting dimension in my trunk is the height, but if you keep it under 14" outside dimension it'll fit.     other info: JL Audio 12w3v3 4-ohm subwoofer, running 5...    less

I'll only be running one or the other, not both. Overall, i want SQ over SPL...In the next year I'll be buying a NEW vehicle (SUV) and the setup may completely change if need be... but if its simply upgrading one thing or another, i'll save the gear and change the setup.  less
