Nick Gallegos I've had a Type R sealed in a custom box made just for 6th generation Accords and it sounded ok at times and just awful at other times. I know have a 12W3 and it's a beast

Nicholas Frazier Cake. Front speaker grills pop off, radio uses keys to remove. Rear deck speakers are just held in by 8mm iirc, if they are in the door, same as the front.

Scott Stott Also same for the dash if you have tweets or 3.5" - grills just pop off - and make sure to make your harness nice and clean, not much room in those dashes if you're doing a new deck.

Nicholas Frazier the biggest hurdle is space behind the radio, try to make it linear (i.e., western union and solder or butt connectors) and try to feed it as much as possible.

Tyler Dunn my parents will not let me buy the type r and alpine mrx-m100, so i am in need of a budget build that will still sound good and hit hard enough

Barry Schanz Is this including tax and shipping? Cadence or Cerwin Vega would be good brands for a lower budget option. If you have a nearby American Bass dealer that's worth looking at as well.

Tyler Dunn call up a local car audio place to get prices on the 10" type r's, and an mrx-m100 hoping they could get me a good deal. nope, they give me higher prices than crutchfield -__-

Brad Stolberg Than their morons...find another shop and be up front that you want good deals or you'll go elsewhere

Tyler Dunn i told them that and they were like, "its too good of a product to sell any lower", i can go to sonicelectronix.com, save like 50% and still get a 3 year warranty
      March 19
    • Tyler Dunn
Brad Stolberg thats not even super special product...type R is one of the best selling subs around as well as the MRX amps...but if they quoted you more than crutchfield and expected you to pay tax on top of it than they shouldn't be in business much longer
      March 19
    • Tyler Dunn
Barry Schanz I used to have that opinion about setting prices, that the product is worth it so I must be using the wrong sales technique. Nope, people get set on a price they want to pay and if the shop won't budge they're not going to sell much. Jaron Moore The Type-R handles more watts and has a smaller mounting depth than the VMAX.. Just sayin'.
      March 4
    • Tyler Dunn
Brad Stolberg no comparison...Type R will take 1kw no prob, both are companies that have been around for a while and know what they are doing, but there's a reason one of the top selling car subs is the Alpine type R line
      March 4
    • Tyler Dunn
Barry Schanz I suspect if someone did compare the VMAX to a Type R the differences wouldn't be that great, either in audible loudness or longevity. Sound quality is possibly where the greatest differences would come out, but even that would come down to the box design.

Barry Schanz The video's audio is compressed to shit. Be careful playing this in your car at high volumes.

Tyler Dunn already have, entire car shakes, worse than dubstep
      February 8
    • Tyler Dunn
Barry Schanz I'm not warning you because of the shaking, I mean if all their music is this badly compressed you'll be blowing speakers. It could be just that one video. I'll check out some of their other videos.

Tyler Dunn so i think instead of getting my subs, i am going to buy either new JL C2 6x9 speakers or Type'R 6x9 speakers for the rear deck that way i have really good speakers through out the car, then power them all with either a JL XD400 Watt/4channel amp or a Kic...  moreso i think instead of getting my subs, i am going to buy either new JL C2 6x9 speakers or Type'R 6x9 speakers for the rear deck that way i have really good speakers through out the car, then power them all with either a JL XD400 Watt/4channel amp or a Kicker IX500/4 channel amp, then possibly down the road, get a 8inch Type R to add that extra bass

Brad Stolberg its a very well balanced natural sounding speaker and they can take 200w RMS in stride, BTW ever since I started using MRX the XD's don't cut it anymore, and theres new versions MRX's coming out with more power...no expirence with kicker amps lately tho.....  moreits a very well balanced natural sounding speaker and they can take 200w RMS in stride, BTW ever since I started using MRX the XD's don't cut it anymore, and theres new versions MRX's coming out with more power...no expirence with kicker amps lately tho...love the 8" type R too a pair on 1kw is a nice setup

Tyler Dunn then again, i might just get a 2channel amp to power the fronts since the rears aren't as important then run an 8" inch in the back, i was almost thinking about getting an 8" W7 because i can get one for less than 300
