Car Audio Forum - Product Discussion > JL Audio w7

So I am buying a 12 w7 from a shop and I was contemplating what amp to buy, I know the best bet would be the 1000/1. I want to try something new which most people wouldnt consider doing, thats hooking up a TMA 1000.1. Do you think it will sound good?

TMA amps are gone, the've been replaced with the JL Audio J2 amps, it would sound good with a j2 1000watt, look into the JL Audio HD 750/1. those amps are awesome. the slash amps are also going to be going away soon.

Yeah thats what my plan was but its going to be put in a car with factory stereo, hence the 1000 has high inputs. (Yea I know those amps are gone, shop has acouple left) Dont really want to mess with a clean sweep and stuff as far as the HD amps I have heard a few of them I dont really like the digital sound they reproduce, as far as the JL slash amps I thought they just did away with the 250/1. I cant wait for JL to come out with the 1200 HD, finally an amp which will power fully a 13 w7

TMA amps were made by one of the head guys from Rockford Fosgate what he decided on doing is make and amp that produces good power without all the flashy looks.

Then what happened is the owner of Total Mobile Auto was bought out by JL audio and then JL made a couple of little changes and now they are J2 amps

So TMA were great amps for the retailer because the cost on them were hella cheap but when they sold them to the customer they performed good

I agree with doug the amp would work great for your system and you can alway up grade later

just remember to run 2 our 4 gauge wire so you dont have to run bigger wire later

So I have put those in I am really amazed at what that amp does. The W7 sounds great ummm needs a lil more power but performs really good for a stock stereo setup. I am currently upgrading all the OE wires and putting 0 for the whole charging system...Will sound alot better hence the amp is a lil power hungry, but its deff best bang for buck.
