ipad main reciever in a 72 nova

Lets say i want to use an ipad in a 72 nova what are the thing im going to need for that project...

Im planning on making a custom center console for the ipad.

It depends on the level, goal, and other equipment being used in the install...a you planning on keeping your 3200dvd? If it were me, I'd sell it and just do Doug's I streamer route

Yea i was planning on selling it..
Dougs isteamer route is that all i need to make it work on my car or do i need the audison bit one

No you don't need the bit one by any means unless your running active, or wish to use it as you DAC instead of the I streamer by using the BitOnes digital input...

I'm assuming you have amps for your speakers? If not then ur gonna need one, unless you plan to jailbreak the iPad and use a deck instead of the I streamer/BitOne

The best bang for buck iPad setup IMO is a Bit Ten D using its digital optical in, then an active 2 way or bi amped 3 way front stage + sub

Oh okay thats sounds good and yes i have an amp for the speakers, so dougs isteamer route is the best way without having a stereo right.

No Doug's I streamer is the simplest way, besides just using the headphone jack...the BitOne using digital in is the best way IMO

The I streamer is &200, a BitOne retails at $1200 and $800 is a good deal, or the Bit Ten D is almost just as good of a DSP but has only 5ch compared to the BitOne's 8 and that retails at $650 and a good deal Is $500

No, not necessarily, do you need to have charging? I don't in my own car and find it to never be a problem...I use the camera connection kit with a cool gear 12v USB hub to power the Turtle Beach USB to digital optical adapter and it works great, but there's a post in this forum where some guys used a dock that will work with digital out from iPad and iPhone/iPod touch and supports charging for all, they said it was on Amazon for $100

The turtle beach usb to optical adapter and the coolgear 12v USB hub, you won't be able to use the charger and play audio through digital at the same time, but honestly unless your on a 24/7 road trip, you don't need charging

No it's the camera connection kit that doesn't allow charging, and if you use a USB hub that isn't powered by the car then the Hub and Turtle beach USB to optical adapter are powered off of the iPad which cuts battery life significantly

What you could do is have an iPad specific cigarette lighter charger and plug it in while your in the restaurant you just drove to or whatever

Reason you'd need the charger is because a USB hub only puts out 500mA and the iPad needs 2.1A which is more than 4x
