  Need some help here guys.
  I want to show off the magnet of my sub for the fuck of it. Never Sony it before so I think it would be interesting. I just got some Kicker CVRs. Blew my old Rockfords out so I got something decent quick. They are 4 dual voice coil subs. I just want to invert one out and keep the other regular.
  I need to know how to do it right. I heard something about reversing polarity??
  And also will sound be different if I do it this way??
  Anything will help guys.

  yes you would need to reverse the polarity on one of the woofers and wire the other normally to create a push pull. you cant check out the12volt.com they have a lot of how to about wiring.

  Sound quality wise there has been a lot of discussion on how the basket and the motor itself will introduce lo levels of noise that are simply attributed to the basket and motor disturbing the sound waves when they leave the cone. However, output doesn't seem to be affected at all by this. Reversing the polarity is a must so that the subs do not counteract each other. Hope this helps!

  to be honest you need to take into account for the amount of airspace that the sub takes up when it is in the box. If you're running ported this could change the tuning of one of the chambers pending that you are not running a common chamber. If it is sealed you probably wont notice much but it may make a minor difference. Those subs probably dont have much of a displacement so you'll probably be fine.

  Instead of inverting one of the subs, here's another alternative:
  1) Cut a big-a** hole in one side of the box, where you have a clear view in to the magnet
  2) Carpet the inside of the box
  3) Fit some neon lights inside the box
  4) Seal up the hole you cut with a plexi glass
  
  Just an idea, that's all.

  I was thinking of inverting my SMD, you gotta see it to beleive it!!! Plus I am pressed for space and the .24 cu ft of displacement gained

  I did a 13w7 inverted sealed for this guy back in '03...it took me 3 days to build the box (it was extra complicated becasue the surround on a w7 covers the mounting screws) and about 10 phone calls to JL and a visit from the rep to get it to sound ok compaired to what I know a 13w7 should sound like, dude loved it and I mean it still hit hard as it should its a freakin 13w7...never messed with it again
